Being the husband of Sandra Jayes, I was fortunate to have met Margaret Mendenhall. The first time I met her was just over a year ago, and even though she was in a nursing home, I could sense warmth, and a true being by just being in her presence. She was very funny and charming and a pleasure to be around. She was just the way my wife described her and I really wish I would have had the opportunity to have known her in the years past. I can just tell the joy that she brought to peoples lives. I am very thankful though that I did get to see her just days before her passing but, I am also humbled that she is not in pain any longer and that the good Lord took her without any more more days of pain. Mrs. Margaret Mendenhall, the short time I have known you as my Grandmother, I am most proud to have met you. May you rest peacefully from now on and I can not wait to talk to you in Heaven. Love, Robert Jayes

CT and family. I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard giving up a parent. I always enjoyed talking with your mother when she used to come in the bank. She could always make you laugh. She was a unique person filled with her own charm. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sue Hackney

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Margaret was at Carolina House when my mother was a resident. I spent time with Margaret and learned that she and I liked to crochet. In fact, she made a beautiful centerpiece for my lazy susan. My mother, whose name was also Margaret, passed away in September of 2008. I know you will miss your loved one and I pray that God will comfort you and keep you in His care. Margaret will be missed.

So sorry to learn of Mrs. Mendenhall's passing. I grew up at New Market with Clay. He was a good friend. Your mom was a faithful, caring mom who often came by to school events and supported us all. Clay's daughter I met tonight is beautiful. May you all be blessed!!

Nanny is the kind of person that, even in my period of grieving after her passing, has me laughing. If I just think back on all the memories we have, they are all wonderful and special and I couldn't be more thankful that she was our grandmother! God gave her to us because He knew we'd be a perfect match. She taught me to cook and bake, how to be strong, how to laugh and make others laugh, and so many other things. Even if she's gone from this world, I still feel the connection that we share just like it was before. I can hear her voice and laughter right now. I miss her so much, but I stay strong knowing that she is able to watch over us now, no matter where we are in the world. One day we'll all be together again and I'll be looking forward to that until then.
