|  Alice Fields, 94, of 120 Clint Fields Road, Bear Creek died Monday, November 9, 2009 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City. Mrs. Fields was born August 2, 1915 the daughter of Giles N. and Mary Alice (Phillips Tillman.Mrs. Fields was born in Moore County and worked as Post Master for 18 years in Bear Creek. She was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church with perfect attendance for 29 years. She formerly taught the women's Sunday School class, was a past member of the Training Union, and had served as church hostess and had worked with the Young Adults. Alice enjoyed reading, gardening and working in her yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her black labrador, Midnight. She was the last of eight siblings and preceded in death by her husband, Clint Fields. She is survived by two daughters: Ruth Sapp Stamey and husband, Joel of Bear Creek, NC, Debbie Brady and husband, Melvin of Bear Creek, NC; grandchildren, Mary Alice Brady Christman and husband, Monte of Sanford, NC, Mike Sapp and wife, Lori of Mebane, NC, Pam Sapp Whitaker and husband, Roy of Carthage, NC, Pam Sapp Bullard of Fayetteville, NC; 6 great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; special friends, Mary Burke, Marcelle Coble, Wanna Mae Fields and special friend and caregiver, Eula Burns. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the family home. The funeral will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Jim Wall and Rev. Scott Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
