| ![]() Grover Milton Johnson, Jr., 62, of 804 E. Raleigh Street, Siler City died Monday, November 2, 2009 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mr. Johnson was born September 30, 1947 the son of Grover Milton and Gertrude (Womble) Johnson, Sr. Mr. Johnson was born in Lee County, a 1966 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School, an Army Veteran of Vietnam. Grover was the co-owner/operator of Elder Printing. He played golf for over 30 years and enjoyed bass fishing and walking for exercise. He was # 1 Paw Paw to his grandchildren. Grover never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover M. and Gertrude Womble Johnson, Sr. He is survived by his wife: Diane (Elder) Johnson; one daughter: Jennifer Johnson Nelson of Siler City, NC; grandchildren, Alex and Ashley Nelson; one brother: Dennis Pake and wife, Myrtle of Moncure, NC; one sister: Judy J. Kirkman of Randleman, NC; niece, Charlotte King; nephew, Michael Kirkman; great niece and nephew, Kirby and Eric; great-great nephew, Hayden; beloved cat, Pookie and many close friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 4, 2009 from 1:00-200 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC and other times at the home of the daughter, Jennifer Nelson, 919 Tanglewood Drive, Siler City, NC 27344. The funeral will be Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Pleasants officiating.
